We believe that emulsions prepared with white mineral oil will be much longer lasting than soy-based materials, and should generate anaerobic conditions for many years after initial application.
White mineral oil is a petroleum-based product that is approved for direct incorporation into food and does not present major regulatory hurdles. EOS Remediation has completed bench testing on white mineral oil blends in our emulsion lab and has produced stable emulsions without using a mill. The higher cost of mineral oil versus soybean oil and the higher additive cost to prepare a white mineral oil based emulsion create a slightly higher price than our traditional, soy-based product line.
The target market for this product is groundwater impacted with selected heavy metals or a site where the client wishes to maintain anaerobic conditions for many years. The pilot studies for these sites typically involve tanker load quantities of product. Our EOS® WMO 350 emulsion is currently only available for bulk shipment (minimum order of 40,000 pounds). However, we are working on locating suppliers so that we can produce drum shipments.
We are currently working on several new products for various other groundwater applications. Based on the success of these efforts, we may pursue patent protection for these products. We'll communicate more on these developments within the next couple of months.
